The Avengers: Age of Ultron is about to start shooting, though not all the major parts have been filled. The latest to join the cast is Paul Bettany— who already voices J.A.R.V.I.S. in the Marvel Universe — playing Vision. The vision will join the Avengers with some other new recruits, The Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver bringing the team total to 9. The report comes from England’s The Daily Mail originally but was later confirmed by Variety.
The Vision is an A.I. created by Ultron to fight the Avengers. While fighting them, Vision sees the struggle that the Avengers are going through and decides to rebel against its father and joins them, ironically following in his father’s footsteps who was created by the Avengers and then rebelled against them. Vision has the power to increase and decrease his density and mass along with all the advanced computer interfacing abilities he obtained from Ultron. He has also formed a relationship with the Scarlet Witch.
He joins a cast that already includes Aaron Taylor-Johnson as Quicksilver, Elizabeth Olsen as Scarlet Witch, James Spader as Ultron and Thomas Kretschmann as secondary villain Baron Von Strucker, on top of the returning ‘Avengers’ cast.
‘The Avengers 2,’ officially titled ‘The Avengers: Age of Ultron,’ is scheduled to hit theaters May 1, 2015.
