Fox’s ‘Gotham’ TV Series Will Feature Batman And Many Well Known Rogues

The first details about Fox’s new show ‘Gotham’ leaked last fall describing the show as a origin story for Commissioner Gordon. Today, at a Television Critics Association press event, FOX Chairman of Entertainment Kevin Reilly revealed some information that makes it seem like much, much more than that. Instead of being an origin story for Commissioner Gordon it will be an origin story for Bruce Wayne, yes, Bruce Wayne.

Reilly went on to confirm that Bruce Wayne will be appearing as Batman on the series’ final episode. “The actor will grow-up, if we do our job well he’ll be a young man and ready [to be Batman] by the end, which isn’t to say we might not skip ahead.” Bruce is expected to be around age 13 at the beginning of the series.

Do not  be fooled by this news, Commissioner Gordon will still play a very large, pivotal role in the series but so will a seemingly rich amount of Batman’s Rogue Gallery. We will see some of the origin stories of The Joker, Catwoman, Penguin, The Riddler, and More. “We’re not starting in that world where the villains are in costume. You see markers for it that are kind of delicious. You begin to see the evolution of the eccentricities that become those characters, but you really sort of arc there. We don’t start out in capes and costumes.” Reilly explained.

Reilly later went on to confirm that ‘Gotham’ will in no way be connected to ‘Batman vs. Superman’ or any other projects from Warner Bros. Do not get restless, the show begins filming in March so lots of developments should be coming soon. The show is expected to premiere later this fall but nobody has come forward to confirm a date. Out of all the projects WB/DC is working with different television network’s on this seems to be the most promising. What do you think? Which villains would you like to see appear?
